Belts and Vinyl and such like....

I managed to make the belt how I wanted! huzzah!

Next in the pipe line is an underbust harness of a simliar design.
Im quite proud of myself having never worked with vinyl before I think it came out really well. Sits nicely on the hips as well.
Quite boring having to use pegs to fold it all under (cant use pins - but pegs work fine) didnt take too long considering. - plus It didnt take up all that much material either.
1 metre of vinyl cost me about £9 but I only used a bit and considering how much it probably would have cost if i'd bought it - bargain.

I do also need to make a bag and a holster to clip onto it.

Underskirt woes...

Well I have adjusted the underskirt with much faffing, and decided at the last minute I wasnt going to add the ruffle at the bottom becuase I was fed up.

It looks pretty good actually, and gives good fluff.

After getting bored with ruffles I have gone on to play with fake leather in order to make me a 'steampunk' type belt, I am now bored of pegs instead! (instead of pins).

Just got a TON of inspiration from this site as well...looks like the ruffler foot will be coming out again!

Underskirt mk III...

The steampunk night was absolutely fabulous!
Looking forward to the next one in Febuary, have a ton of new outfit ideas :D

In other news I am attempting to make an underskirt again, my first attempt ended up with me giving up, my second attempt I managed a rather straggly looking thing and then I gave up again.

In the course of making the new steampunk outfit I bought a ruffler foot, which was a pain to get used to but made ruffles infinetly easier, with this in mind I thought, great I'll have another go. I managed a respectable 2 layer underskirt.

Proud of my creation and the added 'poof' it gave my skirt I went to Swingaroo Vintage dance night, only to be struck with intense petticoat envy! Those petticoats were much fluffier than mine, after spending a frankly disturbing amount of time looking at girls petticoats (I'm sure you can get arrested for that!) I deduced that I needed another layer at the bottom to make it fluffier. So I shall try to adjust the latest one and see how it looks.

In the mean time I've had to go get my sewing machine looked at - pretty sure plastic washers falling out of sewing machines isn't a good sign! fortunately the shop I go to seems to think its not to dire and tightened a few bits here and there to make it all fine. So Now I'm good to go for more ruffling...

Ta daaa....!

So I have spent an ENITRE week on this outfit, I have learnt many things, most of all how I am really bad at picking costumes I actually have the skill to make!

Also now I Have a top 3 sewing things I hate:
1. Button holes
2. Ruffles
3. Sleeves (with narrow hemming a close 4th)

I have also managed to completely mess up the front with bad button hole skills (and an over eager button hole ripper...yeah... :( ). Which is bad. Because its on the front. I am about to try and fix this by adding more cogs than I was going to. Cogs fix everything :D (hopefully)

And here are the pics, more to follow hopefully after the event on Wednesday for which it has been made!
Note: I only made the jacket and skirt - the corset was bought :)

Also apparently my special skill is to float in the air! (wishing I'd made the skirt a touch longer now!)

Whats that pussy cat...

So finally finished those recovering the sofa. huzzah.

Still don't have a hotmail account :( This makes me sad.
Update: I now have my hotmail back hooray :D I am happy again. Only took a week to get a response :/

Bought myself a pressure cooker for making hummus faster in for my birthday present to myself - apparently I can do all sorts of amazing things with a pressure cooker....I just need to work out what they are...

Next on my sewing list...a giant pile of T-shirts to re-size. hopefully this will result in a nicer garden, hurray for swapping of talents :D

Question: Why when its my birthday this week do I have to spend all of tomorrow baking cakes for other people? hmm...I'm definitely doing something wrong!

Saad face...

I've had a tempestuous relationship with Microsoft products over the years, windows always played up on my computer etc, but for the most part I've never really had major problems.
This week however they have failed me.
I have always used my hotmail account as my main, ive had it about 10 years now with no problems. now it is blocked presumably as someone has been sending spam from my account. While I have no problems with them blocking the account for that reason while it gets fixed what I do have a problem with is the complete lack of resource to get in contact with anyone about the issue. I have done everything they asked, and yet it is not unblocked. I have had NO communication what so ever, not even a 'we don't think your a real person prove it to us'. which is disappointing.
I've tried to email but only gotten automated responses (which is FAIL Microsoft that is not how email works!)
I've tried to phone but had the same issues. I've tried goddam twitter and not had a response. So now I've had to create a new hotmail account just so I can post on their forums to complain, and you know what hundreds of people are having the same issues and some people have been waiting months.

Its not good customer service - I wasn't expecting much to be honest, but this is shocking.

Camping in the rain...

This weekend we went camping with the car club, it was very wet and very cold.

Did I mention it was very wet and VERY cold.

It really didnt warm up until we packed up today to leave, at which point the sun came out in full strength and was too warm! The weather hates me.

Apart from that we had a good weekend, I am now in love with the Wolseley limo which we got a ride in, it was so amazing. Beautiful inside and out. Sadly though it is rare and I don't think we'd ever be able to afford one. I can dream though - and possibly bribe the man who owns it with cake to occasionally drive me around in it...

Rainbow cupcakes!

I actually successfully managed to make rainbow cupcakes. I'm very happy. I've also been playing around with my new piping nozzle that makes me pipe rose shapes on cupcakes. huzzah :D

The rainbow cakes were also gluten free for my cousin - I really need to meet people with less dietry needs! Gone are the easy days of just baking a normal cupcake :/
Strangely the rainbow cakes came out better than my 'normal' blueberry cupcakes (with the blue rose icing) Must have been all the food colouring :p

Update...cookies are nom

My not vegan but gluten free cookies are tasty...Next time I WILL remember to use the dairy free chocolate though...

Epic dairy free fail...

So I was going to make diary free gluten free cookies for the national MG meet...it was all going so well until I realised I just put normal chocolate in. Mega DOH!. Oh well at least they are still Gluten free...

In the Oven now waiting to be cooked and sampled soon!

Edit: The cookies were good :D
Please note the giant pile of cakes I made for the MG meet:

Somebody let me loose with a staple gun...

So after procrastinating for about 3 years (I wish I was kidding there) I've finally got a move on with recovering my sofa and chairs. It's not particularly exciting but its not old lady green any more which is a definite plus. Yesterday I managed to get 1 chair completely recovered, the rest will hopefully follow soon - pictures later.

Blogging?

Ok so all the cool cats seem to have the whole blogging thing under control, and so does everyone else for that matter so here we go and see if we can't get down with the kids!

So just as an explanation, I have a friend who's really into Roller Derby - hence the Roller Derby esque name. Seriously if I didn't have a phobia of contact sports I'd be so into Roller Derby. It's pretty cool to watch though.

I seem to spend most of my time either baking or sewing while not work so that's probably most of what you'll see on here. My hubby has a real thing for classic cars so I'll probably post some pics of those as well at some point.
